Incredible 8-bit-esque sound effect creator available for free!

Try it online here (and you can save the sounds as .wav files). This version was built by Thomas Vian from superflashbros.net, who also released the source code for AS3 !!!  This makes me want to use this code to build a midi-style sequencer to use for Flash games.  Unfortunately I don’t have any time to write that anytime soon – but I would give a hearty hug to anyone out there who wants to write that tool!

This tool was adapted from Tomas Pettersson’s original application.  You can also find a copy ported to the iPhone by Chris Gassib.

8 Bit Music

As I start considering sound for my current game, I have been getting a bit into the music mindset. Growing up in the NES era, I have a nestolgic appreciation for chip based music. For a while I considered writing a sequencing tool for Flash (Flash doesn’t currently support Midi files unless you hardwire it in – shown here ), but writing that tool would be a lot of work and I’ve got some other fish to fry.

Today I’ve added a (freakishly addictive) music tool, a video with a nifty 8 bit song, and a couple more videos of people creating some 8 bit awesomeness.
